Dr. Jocelyn R. Smith Lee, PhD, LGMFT (Dr. J)

Dr. Smith Lee's expertise is in research and practice with Black males across the life course. Dr. Smith Lee's research investigates trauma, violence, and loss among Black boys and men. Specifically, she examines the experience of homicide survivorship and works to understand how losing friends or family members to violence shapes the health and well-being of Black males across the life course. Dr. Smith Lee’s research in this area has been published in journals including the American Journal of Public Health and presented at numerous national meetings. Before joining the faculty in Psychology at Marist College, Jocelyn completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Michigan School of Public Health’s Center for Research on Ethnicity, Culture, and Health (CRECH). Prior to her Postdoc at Michigan, Dr. Smith Lee worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region where she provided individual, couple, family, and group therapy to a diversity of clients.

Cassidy Robishaw- Research Lab Manager

Cassidy was born and raised in Dutchess County, New York, and currently resides in Staatsburg, New York. She received her BA in Psychology with a community/clinical concentration from the University of New Haven (UNH) in May 2016. Cassidy is currently interning at the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie working with children aged birth to 18 years old with trauma history. Outside of school, Cassidy enjoys reading, traveling, and going to the movies. After earning her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Marist, she intends to apply for licensure in New York, and hopefully start her own private practice.

Morgan DiNello- Research Lab Manager
​
Morgan grew up on Cape Cod, in Falmouth Massachusetts. She received her BS in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, concentrating on child and adolescent psychology. While there, she spent her free time taking classes and extracurriculars in the arts, however her favorite was ceramics. Her hope for the future is to have a creative and artsy spin on mental health counseling. Following graduation, she taught as a 1-1 special needs teaching assistant for a kindergartener who is blind. After school, she taught a therapeutic clay class to third and fourth graders. These experiences have led her to want to pursue a career focusing on the mental health of terminally ill children. Morgan also enjoys going to the beach, rollerblading, and playing volleyball. While being a part of the MHC program, Morgan also volunteers at Art Centro, a local ceramics studio/art gallery. After receiving her Masters from Marist, she hopes to attend a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology beginning fall 2018.

Lauren Adams- Interviewer

Lauren was raised in Brockton, MA and spent her latter years of adolescence in Sacramento, CA, where she currently resides. She attends Marist College where she is a senior Social Work major and Sociology minor, planning to graduate in May, 2018. At Marist, Lauren is the captain of the Women’s Track and Field team, a member of the Campus Ministry Advisory Board, and an Athletic Peer Mentor. Outside of school, Lauren likes to listen to music, bake, and spend time with her friends and family. She currently interns at Hudson Valley Mental Health, an outpatient mental health clinic. After graduation, Lauren hopes to obtain her MSW and become a licensed social worker who works with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and families that are economically challenged and living in under-resourced communities.
Daija Bullard- Interviewer

Daija is a senior at Marist college and long time resident of Newburgh, New York. She will complete the social work curriculum and graduate, May 2018, with her Bachelors in Science. Daija is currently interning at the Center for Victim Safety and Support in Poughkeepsie working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes. Outside of school, Daija enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family. After earning her BA in Social Work from Marist this spring, she intends to apply to Adelphi University, Lehman College, and New York University striving for a MSW and, eventually, becoming a LCSW ( Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in New York State.
Amanda Delaney- Interview Transcriber

Amanda is currently a senior at Marist College studying psychology and criminal justice. She plans to graduate in May 2018 with her BA and hopes to move onto graduate school for clinical social work. She is currently running a thought suppression study and works as a tutor on campus. Outside of school, Amanda enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and going to concerts. After graduation she hopes to obtain her MSW and later become a LCSW working with juvenile delinquents.
Amy Galloway- Interview Transcriber

Amy is a sophomore at Marist College from Wellington, New Zealand. She is double majoring in psychology and economics, with a minor in cognitive science, and intends to graduate in May 2020. Outside of school, Amy competes on the Marist Women’s Tennis Team, and enjoys hiking, playing guitar, photography, cooking and travelling. After earning her BA from Marist, Amy plans to return New Zealand and earn a Master’s Degree in Psychology.
Teylor Hamilton- Interviewer
Teylor is a junior at Marist. She was born and raised in the Bronx and still resides there. She plans to graduate Marist in May 2019 with her BA in English and Adolescent Education. After Marist, she plans to go back home and teach English to middle or high school students. She also plans to receive her Master’s, at the least. Outside of school she enjoys listening to music, reading and being around friends and family, especially her younger brothers.

Brendalyn Juarbe- Interview Transcriber

Brendalyn was born and raised in Manhattan, New York and currently resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She is a sophomore at Marist College and is majoring in Biology. She aspires to become an anesthesiologist someday and considers science to be her passion. Outside of school, Brendalyn enjoys working out, reading, and traveling.
Fernanda Priolli- Interview Transcriber

Fernanda is a sophomore at Marist College and a resident of Florida, although she was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She plans to graduate in May 2020 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy – two of her passions. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. After completing her undergraduate studies, Fernanda plans on moving on to graduate school to earn her PhD in Clinical Psychology somewhere in the world.
